New Vegas freezes...

Hi every time i try to join a server or my own server new vegas just freezes and says not responding on the task manager. but on fallout 3 it loads up and plays pretty good i don't now what the problem may be but if anyone could help please do. and another question is there a way to make the chat box smaller since i have a pretty crappy computer i have to put the game on the lowest resolution and it comes out huge...

When the game crash and you close it with task manager what does VaultMP say after that?

Does new vegas work in the first place without VaultMP?

160 this is what happens after i crash. also i was joining my own server but it only loaded to the main menu.
