View Full Version : RaidCall Channel for VaultMP
CouncilOfDave

I went ahead and set up a RaidCall channel for people to use.
Search this group ID: 1593830
There is a sub-channel for each game, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Guests can use it, but you have to DL the RaidCall client, which is small.
https://www.raidcall.com/
This way, even when chat works we can find each other in-game, etc.
:D

Remember, if you click on the desktop(or alt tab to it) while ingame the game closes.

So voice chat will be available?
And as far as minimizing the game client... yeah, that's not so helpful when you're actually doing something.
Don't like it, don't use it.

Progress is being made. I'm trying to balance my time between work, sleep, wife, FOnline faction, and the mod. I have extra time to work on it this weekend though.
As far as the IRC channel, people need to just chill a bit. Don't like that I set up something? Then don't use it. MIRC better? Teamspeak? Then use that, then.
It's really a simple concept.

Savino is right, to an extent. Let's say everyone sets up their own teamspeak/ventrilo/jabber/irc/xfire/skype/msn/... server. They would all be empty except for the person who created it. I believe that an IRC channel is sufficient. Things like this are meant to make communicating with the community at large instantly easier, and it's better if everyone uses one thing instead of being spread out. But here in vaultmp you have freedom. This is only my suggestion.

Yeah I definitely didn't mean that you Shouldn't set up a different chat, I was basically just asking where've you been on the irc? But at the same time I do agree with Houstin about saturating the communications capabilities. :)

Here was my thought process for this.
YEAH, the IRC channel works. YEAH, you can minimize the game window, and chat.
But if you want to see what someone said, or say something, you have to minimize the window, type it/read it, and then open the window back up and get back to the game.
With the VC all you gotta do is listen... and if you wanna say something, you speak. No minimizing the client window, your hands are still free, and you can stay in the game.
So, voice IS more efficient. If IRC was more efficient, we would be using it when doing town control or raids in other games instead of voice...
;)

Oh, if that's what you want then you can use Xfire. It has ingame voice and text instant messaging. You can even create chat rooms with voice and text. It can display your fps and time, and take screenshots or videos. There are multiple themes for it and you can change the transparency and position of each window as you want. It also has a rather nice ingame web browser. You can create your own communities and forums for free. It is simple, powerful, and free. :)

And isn't it better if you would change your goals? I mean 25 posts even my *grandmother does it.
*She has Alzheimer, so I guess she would post the same thing over and over because she forgot, that, if she knew how to use a computer(or what a computer is).

I'm waiting for the steam overlay in VaultMP, I personally like it much more. It's got maybe more features than XFire afaik, steam is a powerful engine as well that allows you to create groups :) I like it really much :P

Steam is better than Xfire, but people use Xfire more because Steam's most games are paid(and most people don't pay).

If it supported piracy dont u think the fbi or whoever would have taken it down?
First: I don't say xfire support piracy, I mean steam is better and if you use xfire is because you want to play for free = piracy.
Second: Really? What about all these download pages, and all utilities to download games, free music, and all these things? What about .onion pages? Hundreds of illegal sites are online right now.

There are lots of freeware games out their which are supported by Xfire. Just because one prefers Xfire doesn't mean at all that he pirates games. Now go back on-topic or this thread will be locked.
