Handbook: Becoming a high quality member

The forum has turned to a outrageous spamming board, so I will spend my time to create a nice handbook for people who are not good at making high quality posts.

How create a high quality response.
If a person makes a topic for a specific script release etc, you do not respond like this:

WRONG

Thx i liek dis
The above quotation has nasty grammar, and spelling as well, and it does not state why you like it.
These types of posts are most likely to be considered spam posting, which is a pest.

CORRECT

Thank you for this handbook Aleksander, I will now know how to create a high quality post.
The above post has correct spelling, as well as punctuation and has a valid reason for to thank someone.
These types of posts is what we should see around the forum, not the one like in the incorrect quotation.

How to create a proper thread that looks nice and detailing.
Most threads lack quality and effort, therefore you need to add a lot of more detail into them.
Here is an example of a poorly made thread:

WRONG

Hey i mke this script you all can have dl link hErE: {url}
The above text inside the quotation has not detail, and lacks effort.
It does not describe what the script is about, nor include any pictures.
People do not know what they're downloading, therefore they don't download it.
These posts are useless, and are harassing to most people.

CORRECT

---------------------------------------------------
Hello Guys, I'd like to introduce my new vehicle script that I have created in the past few weeks.
It includes a few features such as spawning vehicles, customizing them, and many more features.
It is easy to use and if you would like to view some screenshots here they are:
[screenshot1, screenshot2 etc..]
Here are some list of commands that are required to use for this script:

/carhelp
/fixcar
/addnos
/carcolor

Thanks everybody, hope you enjoy the script.
---------------------------------------------------

As you see in the above quotation, it meets the criteria to what is wrong above this quotation, and explains what the script does.

The main settings for creating a high quality post.
If you are creating a thread to just state your AIM, do not do it at all, that can be a subtopic of the thread, but certainly not primary. An examples below:

Hey guys, I want to play with some people, my server is called server, we can chat about it on AIM: {your aim}
This explains why your giving out your AIM to people, and your purpose.

Goals in signatures.
These type of behaviours are unacceptable, no one cares about what your goals are, the signature is mainly used to keep information about yourself such as your latest development projects.
Things like:
[x]25 posts are very bad looking, and is certainly misuse of the signature system.

Double Posting
What is the point of making two posts while you can edit your post and add the information you have missed.
This is one of the most important forum rules, it stops spam, and reduces low quality posts.
-Aleks
Look at my signature for an example, it's clear, not bad looking and certainly easy to understand.

nor that, we've got to take responsibility in everyone's actions! It's breath wasting to the moderators and to the people that like a clean and formal community to stay with.

I swear, people treat this place like a trash yard, have they ever experienced having to use forums around the internet to gain general knowledge of this stuff?

People whose forum experience is low, I have already been on a lot of forums, though.

how about just respectig each other. you dont need a rulebook, you need some decent moderators, use your sense of fairness not a set of rules... rules don't really work you know, it's against the law to speed still ppl speed, even tough they know they can get cought and fined they still do.

try motivating ppl and actually moderating by commen sense and fairness and dont hide behind a bloody rulebook. it will just get bigger and bigger and eventually you wont even know what's in there anymore.

example: someone has a point, but his knowledge of english makes him bad in grammar/spelling. the message itself is clear tough.
Nazi grammar comes along, brings out the rulebook and the whole topic becomes a flamewar.

I don't need a lecture on some people who don't know how to use the post system efficiently, this guides here for educational purposes enough said.

go look at other forums.. the more rules, the more flamewars. it's feeding the trolls. if you have a good moderator team you dont need a rulebook. it's a forum not a company.
do what you wish, but rules are going to make it worse not better. it's about getting a message to the other side. posting some suck-up thing like "completely agree mister blabla you have great insight with your lack of arguments and i like this" is less efficient then +support or "i like diz".

I don't need a lecture on some people who don't know how to use the post system efficiently, this guides here for educational purposes enough said.

Let me analyze this:
"i dont need a lecture" Feel superior?? if you think you dont need a lecture, then you need a lecture..
"on people who dont know how to use the post system efficiently" And you are judge of this?
"This guide is here for educational purpuses" Good job, you actually said something meaningfull
"enough said" Superiority again, i do not discuss things i believe im right at. why is this? are you used of allways "being right"?
Point of this "lecture", think before you post.. or speak.. and dont provoke lectures like this :)

Speak fact, or otherwise state that it's your personal opinion. you may be very active, that doesnt make you a good member. respect is the first step, making arrogant claims and hiding behind rules has never worked, it empowers people who have no rights to go and tell others they violate the rules, it encourages people to play cop and point at other people, wich destroys a community from within.

In conclusion, do whatever you wish, this is just my opinion argumented with some facts, if you disagree and make this forum a "rule(law) state" then you missed the whole purpuse of this forum, to be a free and open platform for anyone to speak their minds without fear of repression. disrespect should be repressed, this will encourage people to respect.

Blah blah blah, I don't give two shits about what you've just said there. This is a handbook to IMPROVE it, now if you've got a problem with improving post quality, that's you. This has NOTHING to do with rules, absolutely nothing I don't even know where you got that idea from?

shorun

you may claim it's a handbook to improve, but will it improve?

it's a set of rules you are attempting to enforce, otherwise you would not have made it in enforcing language
The first sentence after your title states this clearly:
"If a person makes a topic for a specific script release etc, you do not respond like this:"
"You do not respond like this:" is a command, it's a rule. "You should not" is a request, a question. a handbook requests, a rulebook commands.

"bla bla i dont give two shits about what you've just said there"
So your willing to cencor "Skidrow" but bot "shit?" damn nice there lad.
btw, respect. if you dont want to be lectured, respect. and try not to feel superior.

This is a great guide, and the kind of behavior I'd enjoy on these forums. Its hard to respect someone who don't follow these guidelines. A few spelling or grammar mistakes are alright and all, some can't help it. But when I see someone talking like "omg wow, tis is amzing stf m8" and the like, I just can't help but see someone immature and can't take them seriously. That kind of chat is for texting to save space and possible money. But your at a keyboard, Not walking down in a mall or such. It'll take you maybe 1-7 seconds to type "this is amazing stuff mate". Though I believe that is enough out of me bout this today.

Though I do have a suggestion for this guide: Respect, Respect is always a welcoming sight, even if you don't agree with someone, respond to it in a respectful manor, As such could provoke a hateful response. Which could make you look bad depending on the amount of lack of respect there is. And on how the response to your post could effect how you look aswell.

Much respect.

Arath

Respect can't be measured ArathHunter, it all depends on the person's caliber, respect is a greatness that I can't say the human being have discovered a way to measure it, but we know who we must respect, people that deserve it, "lack of respect" don't exist, what exists is misunderstanding, we must know who we will respect, thank you Aleksander for this great topic, I respect you.

ArathHunter

Well I suppose I agree that respect can't be measured, Though you make it seem like we're just "Misunderstanding" Insults. It and its kind Is I'm sure, is the opposite of respect (unless of course there are those kind of relationships between friends or lovers). Though, you may call it something else, It would still mean they lack respect for you. Same meaning as not having any respect (unless you misunderstand the lack of respect). Wish ill will of you and the sort. Though still. Other then the lack of respect bit, I agree with you with. Though of course, This is just my opinion of course.

don't insult anyone, insult is for the ones that commit the same mistake more than 1 time, even after we said it was wrong, others...just advise.
