Try to place:
iNumHWThreads=2
bUseThreadedAI=1
just under the [General] tag of your Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini (located Documents / My Games / Fallout3) and save. See if it helps ;)

Will try that but I've found another fix too! and it's working for me, still running now (10 mins in)
Although it may only be a WINDOWS 7 FIX
All i did was this:
Put fallout in window mode
opened taskmanger while running fallout
set the priority of the process to REALTIME
set the affinty to "CPU O"
and no crashes! :D
although the sound is really buggy but i dont care it works!
hopefully this will help others too xD
