Don't get scared if your MIRC appears an warning when starting it telling you to buy and with an exit option(instead of the continue option), just keep re-opening it and clicking outside the screen, if it don't work, just download MIRC's older version at oldversion.com

On Linux, I'd suggest www.kvirc.net/ if you have KDE.
Soon, my friend will have a dedicated IRC server set up for Vault-MP. He'll also most likely host a Vault-MP server for tests on the same server.
