    vaultmp inventory system issue research

This thread is to ask for your help once again. It has been found out that a serious bug lies in the current versions of vaultmp, which causes the player to disconnect shortly after joining a server. This bug is related to the inventory system, and behaves like that:

    [2011-08-01 23:44:43] Sent 1 player item update packets (46.163.71.110|1770)
    [2011-08-01 23:44:43] Sent 1 player item update packets (46.163.71.110|1770)
    [2011-08-01 23:44:43] Sent 1 player item update packets (46.163.71.110|1770)
    [2011-08-01 23:44:43] Sent 1 player item update packets (46.163.71.110|1770)
    [2011-08-01 23:44:43] Sent 1 player item update packets (46.163.71.110|1770)

(client flood of packets containing false information about obtained items)

The bug occurs for certain testers, for others not. I'd like you to test vaultmp (you can do that alone) by joining the testserver for 10-15 seconds. You can leave then and upload your .log (and .RPT if you got) here. Please also post which operating system you have

    xp64, completely updated
2GB ram @ 800mhz dual channel, no pagefile
    Plenty of free disk space
Msi k9n diamond mainboard, running on an AMD am2 6000+ cpu

seems to work just fine as long as i dont use any big mods (game changing mods)

    - edit
i actually took a look at the log itself, and ye, it's full of errors.... i hope it helps you. but the game never did crash or do anything "weird". so i did not notice ingame

    - 2nd edit
I just tested with equipping gear, log files attached..
vaultmplog.rar is the new one. equipped armor and melee weapon. could not test multi player because i was the only player on the server.. if someone wants to meet up, maybe we can test to see if it works multi.

ps: i tryed "saving" my char over the default.. and it works.... next thing i'll do is try and use one of my old chars and save that one as default.. i so want my pimp suit and minigun back...

    3rd edit.
I got a mate to test and when i am online he joins, he crashes. when he is online and i join, i crash.
I have both logfiles. rarred and ready for you. do your magic.
player1.rar (the one online during crash)
    Player2.rar(the one crashing)

Thanks a lot for the crash files, I believe I found the error. I need to do some more tests though, but revision 134 will fix this inventory system issue

BTW, do you play with the Steam version of Fallout3? I don't have Fallout3 on Steam so I wasn't able to try out if it works. Officially, the steam version is not supported by vaultmp, but apparently it is compatible (vaultmp would complain otherwise on startup)

EDIT: This should be fixed now in revision 134.

np, happy to do the testing, all for a better product.
and yes, we both use Steam editions. alltough i use normal and the other guy uses goty. doesnt seem to matter much, and i cracked it to turn off autoupdate... it screws over mods sometimes. so my version remains stable
