Walkthrough on setting up a server?

Alrighty so i downloaded the client and put it in my New Vegas folder, downloaded the server files and the master server files and then realized idk where im supposed to put any of that shit, i assume into a seperate folder and put that with the rest of the stuff.

Now what i would like to know is, after i edit the .ini pages properly and put the server up, how do i connect to my friend or vice versa?

Also we have mods we want to add to the game but i read somewhere that when you log out and back in you lose all your gear and you need a custom script to save your gear, where can i find this script?

And lastly i also heard that when you get into your server there are no NPC's or quests or anything? how can i make it so the NPC's and the quests are all back and both me and my friend can do them together and or seperately?

Thanks in advance for any help, i will check back frequently

EDIT: Ok so my friend hosted a server, i can find it on VaultMP.exe and when i click it my game opens and i go to the main menu, idk what to do from there, and i know its working because the chat box appeared as well. How do we start a game so we can play around and stuff?

NPCs, quests and anything else is taken out because it is not synced yet.

Regarding your problem: can you try the debug version of vaultmp? Does it only go to the main screen, nothing else happens? Also, try to set "inittime" (vaultmp.ini) to some higher value, eg. 12000.
