    BoS chapters

    Mojave chapter:

The chapter was formed by Elijah, a scribe who was promoted to the rank of elder. The chapter's initial purpose was to secure the Hoover Dam for the Brotherhood of Steel. After entering the Mojave, Elijah began to show great interest in HELIOS One, and despite the paladins attempts to convince him that the site was impossible to defend, the Elder decided the vast potential of the site was worth the risk. Declaring that HELIOS would become the chapter's main base, the rest of the Brotherhood had no choice but to follow. Unfortunately for the Brotherhood, the New California Republic (NCR) had reached the Mojave by 2273, and had taken Hoover Dam.

    Armor:

    Crusade to texas:

Rhombus, despite some criticism from the ruling council of the West Coast Brotherhood of Steel, started a crusade against the still existent threat of the super mutant army, now led by Attis. They traveled eastward to Texas. There, he discovered a prototype Vault which was abandoned and installed the Brotherhood's main base of operation in this area. Their principal mission was to eradicate the menace of all super mutants. For this reason, they created a new Texas Brotherhood icon, which featured a pair of wings, topped by dual pistols, all of a red color.

    Capital Wasteland:

The Brotherhood of Steel in the Capital Wasteland is a splinter faction of the original Brotherhood of Steel. Its headquarters is the Citadel, built into and beneath the ruins of the Pentagon in the center of the wastes of what used to be Washington, DC. As of 2277 it is led by Owyn Lyons. It is one of the most important and influential factions in the Capital Wasteland.

    Armor:

    Circle of Steel:

The Circle of Steel is a faction of the Brotherhood of Steel, formed by hardliners from the Brotherhood of Steel wanting to have a more active stance on the politics of the wasteland at large.

    Midwest:

After the defeat of the Master, the original Brotherhood found themselves at odds with their need for new blood versus their code of technological secrecy. The debate went lightly. Finally, the elders ruled against sharing the technology with outsiders, convinced that they would endure what they had before. Further discussion was discouraged when the elders ordered the minority who wished to share their technology on a mission across the wastes.

The Brotherhood constructed airships and dispatched the minority East, to track down and assess the extent of the remaining super mutant threat. However, as they traveled over the great mountains a great storm broke the main airship and flung it far from its course. The mighty airship was badly damaged. The smaller sections were torn from the main craft and never to be seen again. Many of the expedition leaders, including Paladin Latham, were lost to the winds. The fraction of the crew that still survived, struggled to keep their ship aloft before finally crashing on the outskirts of the ruins of Chicago. Survivors eventually formed a new organization, which diverged greatly from the ideals of the old Brotherhood. In time, they established a harsh rule over the towns and villages in that area.

    Armor:

    the Western Paladin Caste:

Paladins are a class of members of the Brotherhood of Steel. They are likened to the Scribes and Knights of the Brotherhood as being on the same level, but with a different purpose. They are the protectors of the Brotherhood, fighting and protecting its interests across the wasteland, equipped with Power Armor and an array of lethal weapons.

As mentioned in Chris Avellone's Fallout Bible 8, "the scribes develop technology, the knights build it, and the paladins use it."

Contrary to the original Brotherhood, Owyn Lyons has changed the rank system - Paladins are no longer a separate caste, but a rank (albeit a high one) instead.
